Vote for Scratch on feedaneed.org

Scratch is a new programming language for children that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web.

Scratch is designed to help young people (ages 8 and up) develop 21st century learning skills. As they create Scratch projects, young people learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the process of design.

Scratch is available free of charge, go to Download.
Currently available for Mac OSX,  Windows and Linux ( system requirements)

To find more about the ideas underlying Scratch, visit our page for Educators.

The Scratch project could use your help in these ways:

  • Tell others about Scratch: download it and give it to others. You're free to copy it!
  • Start a local Scratch club with young people in your area.
  • Web designer? help us improve the usability of our site or the overall look and feel.
  • Web developer?  Help us implement some new features, fix bugs and improve the performance our website. Our framework of choice is CakePHP and our database is MySQL, running on an Apache server on Linux.
  • IT specialist? Help us improve the architecture of our site. We run on a standard LAMP stack.
  • Web savvy user? Help us by giving feedback to the projects kids share on our website. With more than a thousand projects per day a lot of projects go unnoticed. Check people's projects and give them encouraging feedback as they start to learn programming.
  • Linux developer? While most features are working in Linux there are still some that aren't such as MIDI support.
  • Can you translate from English to other languages? We welcome translations of the Scratch website and the Scratch desktop applications. We use Pootle.
  • Other ideas? Tell us!
